QUESTION NO. 16
QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh 2009
To ask the Council, what events are planned for the St Patrick's day celebrations and whether the parade will be re-instated?
REPLY:
The Community Services Department has been making arrangements to have a St. Patrick's Day celebration, planned to take place in Tallaght Stadium. However, while work is continuing on this event the Council has to take into account the current restrictions imposed by the industrial action presently under way and the prospect of escalation. In this regard it may be considered prudent to postpone the planned celebrations before committing funding until the industrial relation issues are resolved. To press on with arrangements would potentially jeopardise the planned celebrations if staff were unable to work on the day, and this could result in a waste of both financial and human resources.
