MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, February 08, 2010

QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor D. Keating

To ask the Manager if he will agree that the closure of a county green waste facility while the brown bin still remains unavailable is a risk to the environment of this county?

REPLY:

The continued provision of the facility for acceptance of green waste at the Ballymount Civic Amenity in addition to licensed/permitted facilities throughout the Dublin Region provides the public with the necessary disposal options that prevents any threat to the environment arising from green waste. These disposal options will be further improved with the introduction of the Brown Bin Scheme.

It is not considered that the closure of the Esker facility presents a risk to the environment of this county.
