QUESTION NO. 6
QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr
"To ask the Manager to indicate how the new system for processing housing applications is progressing - outlining how many applications are currently being dealt with on a daily basis, if there is any customer feedback and if there are any possible improvements required?"
REPLY:
The new system of processing housing applications through interview has been in place since 16th November 2009. So far the majority of applicants are content with the interview system as their eligibility for inclusion on the list is confirmed with immediate effect, they are given full information on the process of the Housing List and they have the opportunity to ask any questions. Applications included on the Housing List are fully completed with no necessary outstanding documentation, which is essential in the maintenance of the list and thereby curtailing unnecessary correspondence. Ninety five interviews are scheduled each week, at present interviews have been arranged up to 9th February 2010. This is a 4 week waiting period. It is expected that this waiting period will reduce - as the intervening Christmas period and subsequent bad weather played havoc with the interviews .
Applications processed to date:-
Appointments Scheduled | 404 |
Attended | 271 |
Non-Attendance | 109 |
Re-Scheduled on applicants request | 24 |
Status of those applicants who attended:-
231 | Eligible and complete |
13 | Ineligible |
8 | Deferred – to be considered on Medical Grounds |
19 | Re-scheduled due to incomplete documentation |
271 | Total Attended |
Those applicants who have to be re-scheduled are accommodated with alternative appointment as soon as possible, allowance for these cases has been made in scheduling of appointments.
