QUESTION NO. 4

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

"To ask the Manager if CCTV is installed at all Bottle Banks on Council owned property, in particular Tymon Park and if any action is being taken to impose fines on those who are responsible for littering at these sites, by dumping empty cardboard drinks cartons at the Bottle Banks?"

REPLY:

The Council has been runing a very successful campaign over the last two years that has signifcantly reduced the incidence of dumping at bring banks through the enforcement of litter laws with the assistance of use of cctv. The Environment Department has issued several thousand litter fines arising from the project.

A review has recently taken place and a new contract for CCTV at bring centres, due to commence this week, will enable the project to continue.
