QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"To ask the Manager for an update regarding the walled garden in Rathfarnham Castle?"

REPLY:

Progress on the completion of the walled garden at Rathfarnham Castle was significantly constrained by resource availability during 2009.  However, some works were continued on the construction of hard landscape elements including retaining walls and a pond and water rill feature as well as pedestrian path development.  The Parks Department has recently reviewed the original landscape masterplan for the scheme in order to prioritise works that require completion to make the walled garden accessible for public enjoyment.  The timescale for advancing these works is subject to the identification of the necessary resources, but it is hoped to make sufficient progress to enable the walled garden to be opened in early summer.
