QUESTION NO. 8

QUESTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave

"To ask the Manager to give a report on the need for a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Scholarstown Road and Stocking Lane to take into account children crossing at school times?"

REPLY:

The junction of Stocking Lane and Scholarstown Road has been inspected to establish if a pedestrian crossing could be provided. The road width and configuration, including traffic island at the junction, is insufficient to provide for the installation of a pedestrian crossing. Significant modifications of the junction layout would be required. It is therefore not proposed to modify the junction given the constraints outlined.

However the pedestrian movements will be assessed with regard to the number of pedestrians, including school children, crossing.
