SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO.3
MOTION: Councillor C. Keane
"That this Committee discusses with the aid of an up to date report
(a)the open spaces taking in charge issue at Stonepark/Longwood and to give a full report on all open space areas and
(b) to give a date when you expect this process will be complete, as it is dragging on for some considerable years.
Noting that a written history - drawing on memory of first residents of the estate confirming the 'compound' as open space has been submitted to SDCC by this Councillor.
REPORT: The open spaces in Longwood and Stonepark, with the exception of the open space locally referred to as the "compound area", are in the charge of and being maintained by the Council. There is a protracted history to the "compound area" and the Council has been in discussion with the developer of the estate to have the Deed of Transfer completed and submitted to the Council so that this area can also be taken in charge. Based on recent discussions it is anticipated that this process will commence shortly and be completed in 2010. As the ownership and titles of this area are complex it is unlikely that the process will be fully complete until mid summer 2010 at the earliest. The Elected Members will be kept informed of progress in the matter.
