Cathaoirleach’s Business

"That the Manager give a report on what funding will be in place for the new community manager and youth officer for the refurbished Ballyroan community centre that is to open early next year."

REPORT:

The local management committee have applied to the Council under the Community Services Dept Community Grants Scheme for a 'Employment Grant for new or existing Community Centres'.

A report has been submitted by the Area Community Officer recommending approval of this grant for the maximum amount available of €30,000. This grant has been listed on the agenda for the Rathfarnham Area Committee Meeting for Tuesday the 15th of December to receive approval from the local elected members.  If  Area Committee approves the grant,  it will then go to the full Council meeting in January for ratification.

€30,000 is the maximum amout of funding available under this grant category. Centre management committees indicate within their applications how they aim to spend this funding to maximise its usefulness to the staffing requirements of their respective centres. The management committee of Ballyroan Community and Youth Centre have indicated that they intend to use this funding to hire a manager for the centre.
