QUESTION NO. 5

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

To ask the Manager if a committment can be given to install a right turn filter arrow on the traffic lights, situated opposite the exit from Castletymon Road, at Balrothery, to facilitate traffic turning right onto the Tallaght Road.

REPLY:

The junction of Castletymon Road/Tallaght Road was inspected recently to establish if each of the traffic movements could be provided with separate lanes. The road width is insufficient to be remarked for two lanes approaching the traffic signals and one lane leaving the signals towards Greenhills. Each lane must provide for vehicles commencing or completing their turning manoeuvre. It is therefore not proposed to modify signals given the constraints outlined.
