MOTION NO. 7

MOTION: Councillor C. King

That this Committee calls on the Manager to re-examine the feasability of the provision of a pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of Marlfield mall taking into account previous warnings and the recent death of a young man at this location.

REPORT:

The pedestrian crossing movements across Kiltipper Way at the Marlfield development have been studied and no warrant was reached for the provision of a pedestrian crossing. Dished footpath and kerbs are provided in suitable locations including the roundabout. It is noted that traffic calming has been installed on the road.

Road accidents are reviewed with the Gardai when the investigating Garda forms the opinion that an input from the Council is relevant and may be beneficial to the safety of all road users.
