QUESTION NO.17
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to outline in detail this council’s policy on Sustainable Urban Drainage (SuDS) and to report on any measures being pursued to better educate and advise prospective planning applicants on SuDS requirements, such as the draft point-based system for selection of appropriate SuDS measures currently being developed by Dublin City Council for incorporation in their next development plan?
REPLY:
The Council’s policy on Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) is included in the Draft County Development Plan 2010 – 2016.
SuDS measures are outlined in the policy documents: Environmental Management, Climate Change and New Development which are part of the Greater Dublin Strategic Drainage Study and are available online.
As part of pre-planning consultations the Council would direct prospective planning applicants to other web sites such as IrishSuDs.com and the Office of Public Works web site which contain valuable information on SuDS measures.
The Council is aware of the City Council’s draft point-based system for selection of appropriate SuDS but this is still a working document. If and when such a system is successfully implemented then this Council may decide to adopt a similar system.
Information on SuDS is available for developers on the SDCC Internet site at the following location
