QUESTION NO.16
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to provide details of the ongoing public realm inspections currently being conducted by council staff, including details of how these inspections operate, what areas of the county have been inspected to date and what general actions are proposed in response to the findings of these inspections?
REPLY:
A Public Realm Steering Group at senior management level has been established with the overall objective to secure the effective and efficient management the public realm – housing areas, parks, roads and village and town centres. The Parks Department will work with other council Departments and external bodies to ensure existing resources will be optimised in the maintenance and management of these areas through co-ordinated and co-operative working by frontline service departments.
The way in which the post Halloween bonfire clean up programme is being managed across the county demonstrates co-ordinated and co-operative working by frontline service departments with staff resources, plant and machinery being shared to ensure the efficient effective and economic delivery of this works programme.
