STANDING COMMITTEES - ORGANISATION, PROCEDURE AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

d) Nomination to  Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee

REPORT:

The following report was circulated at the November 2009 OP&F Meeting:

"By virtue of its democratic mandate South Dublin County Council is entitled to make appointments or nominations to a range of joint bodies and other elected bodies.

In accordance with Schedule 10 (4) of the Local Government Act 2001 (Meetings and Proceedings of Local Authorities ) the Council considered the election, appointment or nomination of members (councillor and non-councillor where appropriate) to these bodies at the June 2009 Annual Meeting and resolved to consider further appointments at a later date to the Annual Meeting. 

The Council approved the appointments of 5 / 6 Councillors at the September 2009 OP&F meeting (Councillors C. Keane, C.King, D. Looney, G. O’Connell and E. Maloney) and non Councillor members at the November 2009 Council meeting. 

It was agreed at the September 2009 O P& F meeting to defer the appoint the sixth Councillor member to the Committee and this is now before the Council for consideration.

(The provisions of Paragraph 18, Schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 2001 apply to these appointments)"                                                        End of Report to OP&F.

It was proposed by Councillor D. Looney, seconded by Councillor M. Duff and AGREED:

 “That Councillor E. Tuffy be recommended for appointed to the Local Traveller  Accommodation Consultative Committee.”

This matter is now before the Council for approval
