MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

That the Manager, by way of adhering to its duty of care to its tenants in the Tallaght area, pursue the owners of all vacant houses not owned by SDCC to ensure their security, under whatever legislative measures are available to the Council, and to put in place a planned response to be implemented as the need arises.

REPORT:

The Council is aware of one property in the South Dublin area which is now owned by a financial institution and which is being allowed to fall into disrepair.  An inspection of the premises was carried out under the dangerous building legislation and immediate steps taken to have the house boarded up with steel shutters.  The cost of this work has been forwarded to the institution.  The Estate Offices are in touch with the financial institution with a view to ensuring that the house is not allowed to deteriorate further.   The matter will be kept under review and if further deterioration becomes evident the matter will be reconsidered in the context of derelict sites legislation.

Should other houses fall into this category they will be treated in a similar manner
