QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
"To ask the Manager to report on inspection, cleansing, litter removal and other environmental services action taken on Keadeen Walkway, Greenpark, Dublin 12 and to make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
In general, walkways such as the one in Keadeen, Greenhills will be inspected by the local Anti-Litter Warden and any litter or other material found will be inspected for evidence to support a fine or prosecution under the Litter Pollution Act, 1997, as ameneded, and the area wil then be listed by the Warden for clean-up by the Cleansing Section. The Warden covers a wide area but tries to ensure that any areas that are regularly littered are inspected routinely on patrol. However, if complaints are received from customers regarding any dumping or excessive litter, the Warden will respond accordingly and arrange an inspection forthwith.
The most recent litter pick and general clean-up at this location was carried out in July. In addition, on foot of receipt of this motion, the Warden has inspected the area and reports that it is slightly littered and there is also a tyre dumped there so he has requested that Cleansing attend and remove same
