COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)
Monday, November 16, 2009
MOTION NO. 3
MOTION: Councillor S. Crowe
Cathaoirleachs Business
That this Council Committee calls on the Manager to give a report outlining the supports it can give to Residents Associations like the one in Orwell, Templeogue, who regularly remove litter from green spaces and other areas and if a scheme can be designed to encourage this and other types of actiivity in the County.
REPORT:
It has been necessary to impose budgetary constraints on disrectionary areas of expenditure due to the current financial climate and as a contribution to this, materials distributed by the Environmental Services Department have been necessarily curtailed somewhat. Residents Associations and other community organisations continue to receive assistance from local Anti-Litter Wardens where possible to ensure that their local areas are well maintained including facilitating the removal of any bags of litter etc. collected from their estates as has been the case with the Orwell Residents Association as required.
In addition, the proposed social credit programme will provide further incentives to such groups in this regard when it is launched in 2010.
