QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

To ask the Manager how many new social housing units are anticipated to be provided in the relevant housing areas within the remit of the Tallaght Area Committee in 2010 through (a) direct provision by the local authority, through (b) an approved housing body or (c) through RAS, and what the size, location and type of these units will be?

The anticipated number of social housing units to be provided in 2010 within the Tallaght Area is as Follows:

A.  Greenhills Road              8 Units         (Tallaght Central)(Part V agreement still in negotiations)

     Avonbeg Phase 4             7 Units          (Tallaght Central)(Direct Provision)

    Fettercairn Phase 2       29 Units          (Tallaght South)(Direct Provision)

• 3 X 2 Bed Bungalow
• 20 X 3 Bed House
• 1 X 3 Bed Apt
• 1 X 4 Bed Bungalow

B.  Springfield (Respond VHA)         190 Units        (Tallaght South)(Joint Venture)

C.  The target number of cases for transfer to the Rental Accommodation Scheme during 2010 has been set at 400 for the entire county.  It is not possible to indicate at this stage how many of these will be in the Tallaght South and Tallaght Central Areas.  However based on what has been transferred to date it is likely to be in the region of 45% of that figure i.e. 180.  The property types will continue to be a mix of apartments, duplex units and houses.
