QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
To ask the Manager for an updated report on the survey of the Council's community, sports and recreational facilities, requested to be carried out last year by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government, if he will advise members whether the information has been supplied to the Department, and if he will make a statement on the matter?
REPLY:
Audit of Community, Sports and Arts Facilities
As stipulated by the Department of Environment Heritage and Local Government the Audit of Community, Sports and Facilities Audit was to be completed and submitted to the Department by 31st December 2008. South Dublin County Council’s information was submitted on the 19th of December 2008 re attached. The Audit was co-ordinated through the Sports & Recreation Office and a sub group comprising staff of the Community Services and Parks and Landscape Services was established to gather the required information as outlined by the department.
The audit aims were:
- to establish the current level of provision
-to inform re future investment in facilities based on the outcome of the audit and having regard to identified local needs
-to inform grant assistance and investment at national regional and local level
The Community Department are currently in the process of merging the results with the CONNECT Project and mapping all of the facilities as identified during the course of the audit and in accordance with the conditions as set out for the purpose of the Audit.
It is intended to present to the Council as soon as this work is completed.
