QUESTION: Councillor C. Keane

"To ask the Manager to discuss, with the aid of an up to date report on the expected reopening date & redevelopment of the Ballyroan Community Centre and new Parish Centre?"

REPLY:

Following a review of major capital projects and their financing the go-ahead was given for the Ballyroan Community Centre and new Pastoral Centre

The successful contractor is on site and work is proceeding satisfactorily. There are two main elements to the construction project – the first is the refurbishment of the existing Community Centre, while the second is the construction of a new Pastoral Centre adjacent to the Community Centre. Priority is being given to the refurbishment of the Community Centre to minimise the loss of facilities to the various clubs and user groups who would normally use the Centre.

The estimated completion dates are as follows:

Community Centre……...2^nd March 2010

Pastoral Centre……………11^th May 2010 

Every effort will be made to have the work carried out as quickly as possible.
