MOTION NO.  8

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager present a report to the members of the outcome of the request by residents of 31-33 ballyroan road regarding the reinstatement of their garden walls."

REPORT:

Following representations by elected members, the Parks Department investigated allegations of tree roots causing damage to the boundary walls of no. 31-33 Ballyroan Road.  The likely cause of the damage was found to be a combination of several factors, primarily sub-standard construction of the wall which rendered it more vulnerable to damage as a consequence of tree root growth in the vicinity.  In  general the Parks Department does not undertake works on private boundary walls.  However, due to particular circumstances pertaining at this location, the matter has been resolved and the Council has made arrangements for the repair of the wall.  This work is ongoing and is scheduled for completion in the near future.
