SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
"To ask the Manager to contact the management of Rathfarnham shopping centre to ask them to have the grass verge on Butterfield avenue in front of the centre cut more regularly or is this a function of the parks department?"
REPLY:
The grass verges on Butterfield Avenue in front of Rathfarnham Shopping Centre are maintained by the management of the shopping centre. In suburban areas, the Parks Department maintains those roadside margins which are located in front of public open spaces. The verges are maintained on the basis that they would not be cut by anyone else and if left uncut would detract from the general amenities of the area. The Parks Department will however endeavour to make contact with the management of Rathfarnham Shopping Centre and advise them of local representations to have the grass verges on Butterfield Avenue cut more frequently.
