QUESTION NO.  7

QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"To ask the Manager to prune the trees and clear the footpaths of moss in Dodder Grove, Dodder road where there are a number of seniors living?"

REPLY:

These trees at Dodder Park Grove will be inspected by the Parks Supervisor for the area over the coming weeks and will be considered for pruning as part of the Parks Department's Arboricultural Programme which commences in November and will be ongoing until March 2010.

In relation to the removal of moss from the footpaths, the Parks Department has referred the matter to the Council's Roads Department who have indicated that they will list the matter for attention under their maintenance programme.   In considering pruning requirements, the Parks Department will also take account of the moss growth as the pruning of the trees will increase light levels and enhance air circulation thus reducing conditions that favour the build up of moss on the footpaths in the future.
