MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, October 12, 2009

QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor S. Crowe

To ask the Manager will he consider in view of the growing clean up costs each year,  placing extra resources in place to help eradicate unwanted bonfires in public parks and green spaces throughout the County, in the lead up to and during the Halloween period?

REPLY:

The many proactive initiatives being undertaken by South Dublin County Council Environmental Services Department aimed at creating Environmental Awareness leading up to the Halloween period have been outlined under Item 20412 (Q. 6) to this meeting. The Council is confident that this approach will serve to reduce the volume and spread of materials used to feed bonfires throughout the County however, staff from the Councils Parks Department are currently and will continue to be fully employed leading up to Halloween night on removing bonfire material from regional parks, public open spaces and housing lands throughout the county.
