COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF JOINT POLICING COMMITTEE
Friday, September 11, 2009
QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
That this committee recommends that the Gardai reintroduce the placement of parking tickets on motor vehicles which are the subject of a computer-recorded fine for a parking offence. The placement of physical ticket on the offending motor vehicle would provide a visual warning and deterrent to other car-users who may park illegally in the same area.
REPLY:
There is no legal requirement to place a warning on a vehicle that is committing a parking offence. To introduce this initiative may give the person receiving a fine a legal expectation that this notice should be placed on the vehicle.
