To ask the Manager to give a Report on Community Policing throughout Dublin South West, which embraces Bohernabreena, Brittas, Firhouse, Greenhills, Templeogue and Tallaght.
REPLY:
A dedicated Garda from Crumlin Garda Station is assigned to Community Policing in the Greenhills area. The Garda liaises with the four schools in the area. He has close liaison with the Walkinstown / Greenhills resource centre and attends monthly board meetings.
He maintains close liaison with the co-ordinators of the four neighbourhood watch schemes in the area. His patrols are concentrated on problem areas reported to him and Greenhills Industrial Estate.
He also has a close association with the following organisations and clubs:
Three dedicated Gardai from Terenure Garda Station are assigned to Community Policing in the Templeogue area. They carry out their duties on mountain bike and foot patrol.
They maintain daily contact with Community Leaders. They visit schools in the Templeogue area in accordance with the Garda Schools Programme. Gardai attend monthly meetings of the Templeogue active Retirement Committee. They hold regular meetings with representatives of the Traveller Community. Gardai are also actively involved in summer camps.
