QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"To ask the Manager to seriously consider a motion sensor on the lights at Woodfield, Scholarstown Road. It is virtually impossible for traffic to exit at peak and other times, and therefore the only times that the lights go red is when the pedestrian crossing is being used?"
REPLY:
Woodfield estate exits onto Scholarstown Road where a pedestrian crossing is provided. Yellow boxes provide a gap permitting traffic to exit. Additional access to Scholarstown Road will only be improved when congestion in the area is reduced. Modification of the pedestrian signals to fulfill a role they are not designed for cannot be considered on safety grounds.
