QUESTION NO. 4
QUESTION: Councillor S. Crowe
To ask the Manager in view of the difficulties being experienced by taxi drivers in Dublin and in South Dublin particularly, will he agree to review and enhance the availability of parking facilities for working drivers in the County area?
REPLY:
Given the increased number of taxis now operating within the Council's administrative area and the relatively few taxi rank spaces in the County, it is considered opportune to review such provision at this time. It is noted that a similar national review is underway by the Taxi Regulator.
It is proposed to draft a position paper on the development of a policy on the provision of taxi ranks and to present this to the incoming Transportation Strategic Policy Committee for review and prioritisation with a view to implementing best practice in the provision and management of taxi ranks.
