MOTION NO. 287

MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

That on page 222 – Specific Local Objectives “That a time limit of two years be provided for all objectives carried forward from the 2004 Plan” and that the Draft County Development Plan be amended accordingly.

REPORT:

Specific Local Objectives relate to particular sites or locations and are intended to provide guidance to facilitate the carrying out of development or other actions on the lands in question so as to achieve a development or other improvement that might not otherwise be achieved in the absence of the SLO. It must be noted that a substantial resource may be required to deliver the SLO, and also  the initiative to carry out development generally lies with the relevant owner of the lands. Accordingly, it would not be reasonable to impose a time-limit as proposed in the motion.

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the motion not be adopted.
