MOTION NO. 250

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To add a specific local objective to redevelop lands at the Bush Centre & Parochial House at Foxdene in partnership with the Parish of South Lucan, to include delivery of a new community centre for the Balgaddy/South Lucan area.

REPORT:

There were previous representations for the redevelopment of these lands and a series of meetings with the Parish Priest took place.  No agreement was reached as to the best way forward to achieve the provision of a Community Centre in the area.

It is understood that the new Parish Priest is now anxious to progress matters and the Council’s Community Team can arrange to meet to advance discussions regarding the provision of a community facility in the area which it is recognised as being needed. The provision of such a facility would be the subject of availability of the necessary finance which is challenging in the current financial environment.

MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that this Motion be adopted.
