MOTION NO. 293

MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

That this Council, when possible, will fully integrate social, affordable and private housing in order that no apparent distinction can be made.

REPORT:

Section 8 Counteracting Social Integration of the Housing Strategy contained in Schedule 6 of the Draft County Development Plan (page 292) reads as follows:

“ It is the Councils policy to encourage the development ofmixed and balanced communities so as to avoid areas of social exclusion” “ The Council has developed socially integrated housing developments throughout the county consisting of affordable, social, private and voluntary housing. It shall be Council policy not to allow the provision of large tracts of single class housing”. “The development of mixed and balanced communities will be encouraged so as to avoid areas of social exclusion”.

Manager’s Recommendation:

The proposed motion should not be adopted.
