MOTION NO. 90
MOTION: Councillor D. Looney
Amendment to 1.3.36.iv Policy SCR 42: Skateboard Parks.
Change to:
"It is the policy of the Council to provide at least one Skateboard Park in each Electoral Area within the County. The location and nature of these parks will be developed in consultation with potential users of such facilities, local councillors and local residents."
REPORT:
In September 2006 South Dublin County Council opened Ireland’s first concrete skateboard park in Griffeen Valley Park, Lucan. A large demand for skateboard facilities was identified in this area and a process of consultation was initiated by the Parks Department with local people, youth groups and representatives of Lucan Skateboard Club.
South Dublin County Council endeavours at all times to facilitate public participation and consultation and most recently, through The Big Picture, further developed the consultation process for new developments through reading, listening and seeing future developments and the Development Plan Process. Public participation is an inherent part of development by the Council.
Manager’s Recommendation:
It is recommended that this Motion not be adopted.
