MOTION NO. 143

MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

Amend the 1st paragraph of section 2.4.11 Waste Re-use and Recycling to read as follows:

“The Council will co-operate with other agencies both public and private in viable schemes for the extraction of useful materials from refuse for use or recycling or composting and will adopt the targets set out in the Waste Management Plan for the Dublin Region 2005-2010 and subsequent updates or revisions as a minimum, and provide leadership in this area.”

REPORT:

The proposed amendment is considered acceptable.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the motion be adopted and that section 2.4.11 Waste Re-use and Recycling be amended to read:

The Council will co-operate with other agencies both public and private in viable schemes for the extraction of useful materials from refuse for re-use or recycling and will adopt the targets set out in the Waste Management Plan for the Dublin Region, 2005-2010 and subsequent updates or revisions as a minimum, and will provide leadership in this area.
