MOTION: Councillor C. Keane

That the following amendment be included in the written statement:-

3.4 ADD A SECTION ON FAST FOOD TAKE AWAYS – with the following criteria

In all applications for fast food take away there will be a need to balance the needs of local residents with the need to create a mixed-use vibrant community. In order to maintain an appropriate mix of uses and protect night time amenities in a particular area.

REPORT:

Section 3.4.10.viii, Policy S8 ensures that the assessment of planning applications for local/corner shop developments will pay particular attention to the possible effects on adjoining property from the provision of such shops.  In addition to this, Section 3.4.11 and Policy S15 ensures that this type of development will be strictly controlled having regard to the effect of noise, general disturbance, hours of operation, litter and fumes on the amenities of nearby residents or adjoining commercial activities.

MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION:

 No change required to the Draft Development Plan.
