MOTION NO. 185
MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To amend Policy S3: Scale and Location of Retail Development to add the following additional sentence at the end: “All planning applications seeking provision of additional retail floorspace will be strictly assessed to ensure that additional traffic generated by the scale of the proposed development will not lead to traffic congestion."
REPORT:
Road safety measures are contained in Policies T19, T20, T21, T22 and T23 and car parking requirements are outlined in the Transportation Section of ‘A Connected Place’; these will ensure that all planning applications are assessed appropriately.
It is recommended that the paragraph located after Policy S3 should be amended to read:
All planning applications for major new retail development will be assessed in accordance with the criteria set out in the development management section below and criteria set out in the Transportation Section of ‘A Connected Place’.

It is recommended that the Motion be adopted with amendments to the language proposed below:
