MOTION NO. 41

MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan

That the number of homes to the acre be set to 10.

REPORT:

The Draft County Development Plan sets out a coherent spatial planning framework for the entire County within the context of national and regional policies. The core strategic aim of the Plan is to promote, at appropriate locations, a more consolidated and compact urban form for the County which are outlined in a number of strategic aims including the promotion of infill development and the concentration of higher density development in areas with good public transport links.

Section 1.2.13i of the Draft Development Plan sets out the Appropriate Locations for Increased Densities and the policies relating to the individual areas sets out the criteria that needs to be met to achieve those densities while Section 1.4 of the Plan, Sustainable Neighbourhoods, sets out the standards that proposed development must meet.

This motion is contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the County.

The proposed motion should not be adopted.
