MEETING OF DEVELOPMENT PLAN MEETING

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

MOTION NO. 194

MOTION: Councillor C. Keane

That the following amendment be included in the written statement:-

4.2.7.vi Policy AA6: Areas of Archaeological Potential

include Rathfarnham as an Area of Archaeological Potential as Rathfarnham has already been designated an Architectural Conservation Area (ACA).

REPORT:

Areas of Archaeological Potential are designated by the Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government through Dúchas The Heritage Service. These areas are set out in the Record of Monuments and Places which are protected under Section 12 of the National Monuments (Amendment) Act, 1994.

Tallaght, Newcastle, Clondalkin, Lucan, Saggart and Rathcoole have been designated as Areas of Archaeological Potential in the County. Whilst the Development Plan would support such designations. The designation of such areas is not possible under the Development Plan procedure.

Manager’s Recommendation:

It is recommended that this Motion not be adopted.
