MOTION: Councillor C. Brophy
That in all areas zoned residential of mixed development that a proportionate area of land be provided for allotment use where the development proposed is substantially or completely apartment style development.
REPORT:
The Development Plan reserves sufficient land in mixed residential developments to provide adequate public open space to meet the active and passive recreation needs of the planned residential community.
Given the nature of urban development, in particular, where the development proposed is substantial or completely apartment style developments, the availability of lands adjacent to such proposed development is unlikely to exist so as to provide for allotments without compromising the provision of recreational facilities such as playgrounds, playing fields and other amenities for the future residential population.
Manager’s Recommendation:
It is recommended that no change be made to Draft Development Plan.
