MOTION: Councillor D. Looney

Addendum to 1.3.25 Libraries - 3rd paragraph now to read (addendum in italics);

The public library service is an important focal point at the heart of the local community and aims to be pro-active and dynamic in addressing a variety of needs, particularly in the areas of information, culture and heritage, literature and lifelong learning. It is also intended that the public library service will become a focal point for re-training, re-skilling and upskilling for those seeking new employment.

REPORT:

The Council co-ordinates with a variety of bodies involved in the re-training, re-skilling and up-skilling for those seeking new employment. The Library Development Plan 2007-2011 sets out the aims and objectives for the Libraries of the County.

Manager’s Recommendation:

 It is recommended that the Motion be adopted with the following amendment; It is also intended that the public library service will facilitate and support re-training, re-skilling and upskilling for those seeking new employment.
