MOTION NO. 222

MOTION: Councillor D. Keating

Reference - Tree Preservation - to propose: "It is the policy of the Council to be pro-active in terms of Tree Preservation Orders and to pursue a policy to introduce a greater number of Tree Preservation Orders from the existing 3 Tree Preservation Orders in the County Development Plan 2004-2010."

REPORT:

The Council will review the existing Tree Preservation Orders in the County and as part of that review will undertake an assessment of significant trees, groups of trees and woodlands in the county with a view to making further Tree Preservation Orders in circumstances where it is considered desirable, and where the subject trees meet the requirements set out in the TPO Guidelines issued by the DoEHLG, to enhance the protection of such trees.

 Manager’s Recommendation:

It is recommended that the Draft Development Plan inlcude a new policy to state:
