MOTION: Councillor C. King

4.3.4 Tree Preservation orders: "That a study be carried out on the many Century old trees in the grounds of Peamount Hospital with a view to a tree preservation order being placed on them before the completion of the consultation stage of the plan".

REPORT:

The Council will review the existing Tree Preservation Orders in the County and as part of that review will undertake an assessment of significant trees, groups of trees and woodlands in the county with a view to making further Tree Preservation Orders in circumstances where it is considered desirable, and where the subject trees meet the requirements set out in the TPO Guidelines issued by the DoEHLG, to enhance the protection of such trees.

 Manager’s Recommendation:

It is recommended that the Draft Development Plan inlcude a new policy to state:

'The Council will review the existing Tree Preservation Orders in the County and as part of that review will undertake an assessment of significant trees, groups of trees and woodlands in the county with a view to making further Tree Preservation Orders in circumstances where it is considered desirable, and where the subject trees meet the requirements set out in the TPO Guidelines issued by the DoEHLG, to enhance the protection of such trees.'
