MOTION NO. 107

MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

That this Council will amend the Draft Development Plan by inserting the words “and security on all aspects of the property” after the word “privacy” contained in 1.4.19.i.

REPORT:

Policy SN16 (1.4.19.i) seeks privacy within residential areas and includes aspects such as layout and orientation, privacy strips, overlooking and overshadowing and dual aspect apartments.  The existing wording considers all appropriate planning issues and in particular quality of life issues and the crux of the Sustainable Neighbourhood section of the plan is to ameliorate anti-social behaviour through good design.

The policy is deemed to be all encompassing rather than specific and therefore should remain. 

Managers Recommendation:

It is recommended that this Motion not be adopted.
