MOTION NO. 254

MOTION: Councillor D. Keating

Specific Local Objectives - To propose to included 13.1 - "It is the policy of the Council to pursue as a matter of priority with the National Roads Authority, the provision of an up-graded junction, including an underpass on the N4 at the Kennelsfort Road junction, similar to the successful underpass on the N4 at the Newcastle Road junction in the interest of accommodating local traffic between Palmerstown village and the greater Palmerstown residential areas." 

REPORT:

Specific Local Objective No. 13. Palmerstown – Traffic provides as follows:

“Divert unnecessary heavy commercial traffic out of Kennelsfort Road and adjoining residential areas and construct either a fly-over or a traffic roundabout at the junction of Kennelsfort Road/ Galway Road to accommodate local traffic between Palmerstown Village and the Greater Palmerstown Residential area subject to funding being available.”

It is considered that the existing provision is adequate. Discussions with the NRA in this regard are ongoing.

 MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION:

No change required to Draft Development Plan.
