MOTION NO. 234

MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

That on page 216 – Policy LHA33 “with appropriate signage” be added to the 1st paragraph and in the penultimate paragraph “Keep Ireland Open” be added after “Partnership” on 6^th line and that the Draft County Development Plan be amended accordingly.

REPORT:

Section 4.3.9.xii paragraph one states that “Implementation of this policy could involve the development of special interest features such as cultural walks, and long distance hiking trails taking advantage of the Dublin Mountains (e.g. the walk from Saggart to the Dublin Mountains, The Dublin Way). The Council will co-operate with other relevant agencies, both public and private, such as the Dublin Mountains Partnership and local landowners as appropriate.”

It is considered that the insertion of “with appropriate signage” is acceptable.

It is not considered appropriate to add any further individual groups or parties in the above paragraph. The paragraph will be amended so as not to exclude any particular groups or parties.  

 Manager’s Recommendation:

It is recommended that the motion be adopted and policy LHA 33 paragraph one be amended to read as follows

 “Implementation of this policy could involve the development of special interest features such as cultural walks, and long distance hiking trails, with appropriate signage, taking advantage of the Dublin Mountains (e.g. the walk from Saggart to the Dublin Mountains, The Dublin Way). The Council will co-operate with stakeholders and other relevant agencies, both public and private as appropriate.”
