MOTION NO. 74

MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

That this Council will amend the Draft Development plan by deleting the words “should be considered” contained in1.3.22.iv in both instances and replacing them by the words “should be catered for”.

REPORT:

Policy SCR17: Childcare Facilities in Employment Centres and Shopping Centres addresses the requirement to consider the provision of childcare facilities in these locations whilst also taking into account the need to consider any existing adjacent services. The current wording of the policy in the Draft Development Plan allows for the flexibility to ensure that any such existing childcare facilities will not be impacted upon by the provision of new facilities.

Manager’s Recommendation:

It is recommended that this Motion not be adopted.
