MOTION NO. 67

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To include within section 1.3.19 on ‘School and College Sites’ the details of any future education demand forecasting, in particular for second-level education demand, as prepared in collaboration with the Department of Education in accordance with ‘Provision of Schools and the Planning System, A Code of Practice for Planning Authorities’ (2008).

REPORT:

The Department of Education and Science is the responsible body for the forecasting of level of demand for schools and for the funding and provision of schools to meet this demand. The Council will endeavour to co-operate and co-ordinate with the Department of Education and Science on this matter in accordance with the Provision of Schools and the Planning System, A Code of Practice for Planning Authorities’ (2008).

 It is recommended that the motion is not adopted.
