MOTION NO. 226

MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

That on page 213 – Policy LHA23 a new paragraph be added: “The Council will investigate the feasibility of adopting a joint management structure with Dublin City Council for the Bohernabreena Reservoirs, and will report back within two years of the adoption of the Development Plan” and that the Draft County Development Plan be amended accordingly.

REPORT:

It should be noted that the Bohernabreena Reservoirs are in the ownership and control of Dublin City Council. The investigation of a joint management structure is an issue which can be taken up with the City Council.

With respect to the potential positive environmental impacts of this motion, a joint management of the reservoirs may allow effective implementation of a management plan for the reservoirs and surrounding catchment.

Manager’s Recommendation:

It is recommended that this motion is  adopted.
