MOTION NO. 83

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To amend policy SCR37 on ' Green Route Networks' as follows:

• After the words “by utilising links through parks, open spaces and roads” to add the following additional wording “and where appropriate through lands subject to large scale development or regeneration under approved plans and through well-landscaped Enterprise Priority 2 zoned lands”
• To add the following additional objective “the council shall seek to develop a green route lining the Liffey Valley at Lucan Village to the Dublin Mountains via Griffeen Valley Park, Grange Castle Business Park, Corcagh Park, Citywest Business Park and Saggart Village.

REPORT:

The Draft Development Plan, through Policy SCR37: Green Routes, provides for the continuation of the Green Routes programme as detailed in A Proposal for Connected Walking and Cycling Routes through the Parks, Open Spaces and Roads of South Dublin County (2006).  Notwithstanding any possible positive environmental effects of the motion it is considered that the development of Green Routes at specific locations in the County is best dealt with through the adopted programme as outlined above.

 Manager’s Recommendation:

It is recommended that this Motion not be adopted.
