MOTION NO. 132
MOTION: Councillor D. Keating
Under Section 2.3.4 - Water Supply and Drainage - to include "It is the policy of this Council to actively pursue and resolve water leakage."
REPORT:
Section 2.3.4 provides that the strategy of the Council for the development of Water Supply and Drainage in the County includes the strategic objective to:
“conserve treated water by active leakage detection, non-domestic metering and development of infrastructure”.
Policy WD1: Water Supply and Drainage states:
“It is the policy of the Council to co-operate with adjoining authorities to continue the sustainable development and improvement of the water supply and drainage systems throughout the County to meet the anticipated water and drainage requirements of the area, in accordance with the recommendations set out in the Greater Dublin Strategic Water Supply Study and the Greater Dublin Strategic Drainage Study, and the proposed Dublin Region Water Services Strategic Plan when adopted.”
Section 2.3.5 Water Supply and Drainage states:
“In accordance with the Greater Dublin Strategic Water Supply Study and the Greater Dublin Strategic Drainage Study (GDSDS) and subject to the availability of finance, it is the Council's intention to reduce leakage and wastage from the water supply system wherever possible in the interest of achieving efficiency and sustainability”.
It is considered that these provisions of the draft development plan adequately detail the Council’s policy and objectives in this regard.
MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION:
No change required to the Draft Development Plan.
