SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF JOINT POLICING COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor J. Neville
'To ask Manager to confirm what action will be taken by Gardai and Coillte to control and regulate the use of motorbikes in the Cruagh Woods/Massey Woods area, and to thus ensure that the existing car parks are open to the public'
REPLY:
Local Gardai Management in Tallaght are liaising with Ms Karen Woods, Manager, Dublin Mountain Partnership in this matter. The partner organisations are Coillte, South Dublin County Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County council, Dublin City Council, National Parks and Wildlife Services and Dublin Mountains Initiative. Liaison has also taken place with Tim O’Regan, Forestry Manager, Coillte.
A volunteer Ranger Service is presently being recruited and it is hoped to have them operational by the end of May 2009. An Garda Siochana will give every assistance to the volunteer ranger service when they commence their duties and also in the area of any bye-laws being considered for initiation by the Council to deal with this issue.
