MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (2)

Monday, May 18, 2009

MOTION NO. 11

MOTION: Councillor S. Crowe

"This Committee agrees to call on the Manager to investigate the concerns of parents from Redwood and Parkhill Estates in Kilnamanagh, Tallaght regarding the very real safety issue involving school children attending St Kevin's School and their difficulty at present having to traverse Treepark Avenue and then a number of blind side roads and will he consider their request  for a footpath along the parkland that would eliminate the worry and main danger from traffic leaving these roads".

REPORT:

We have re-inspected the above location and report as follows. There is a Warden on duty to assist crossing of Treepark Road. To assist crossing of Treepark Ave at last cul-de-sac adjacent to School,  we recommend that Double Yellow Lines, School Keep Clear & Warning Signs be installed at the corner of the last cul-de-sac so as to keep this area visible, and free of parked vehicles such that the presence of Schoolchildren is highlighted.

These measures were approved at the March Traffic Management Meeting and it is now proposed to proceed on this basis and seek statutory approval for the installation of these measures.
